Enolase is one of the glycolytic enzymes and catalyzes the conversion of 2-phosphoglycerate and phosphoenolpyruvate. Yeast, S. cerevisiae, contains two enolase structural genes (ENO1 and ENO2) per haploid genome. Both genes are expressed in vegetative yeast cells, but regulated in a different way at the transcriptional level.
